I still can’t believe that the Holidays are just around the corner! I can’t wait to put up the Christmas tree, make snow angels and decorate gingerbread houses! To me the Holiday season is a time to spend with family making memories, eating treats and giving gifts.
I’m a huge fan of making my own gifts. Last year my husband told me, “You do know you can just buy them a gift!” I just feel like handmade gifts tell that person that they are extra special. I’m already planning on making plates of goodies for our friends and neighbors but I wanted to find something else fun to add to the mix.
While I was shopping at Walmart I found these Gingerbread M&Ms, it’s a limited time flavor that can only be found at Walmart. They sounded yummy so I had to give them a try! I loved that they came in festive colors! And that is when my creative wheels started turning!
I came up with this cute idea to make individual M&M baggies. These are sure to be a hit when we hand them out. My children have already been begging to have them!
They may look a little intimidating to make but it was really easy ( like surprisingly easy!!)
First step…Gather the supplies. You will need a few sandwich bags, parchment paper, scissors, iron and ironing board.
Heat up the iron to medium high. You will need two sheets of parchment paper, one under the baggie and one on top. You will then take the hot iron and rub it up and down the length of the baggie using only the edge of the iron, almost like you are cutting it with a knife. You only need to go up and down a few times to heat it up enough to make a new seal. The new baggie needs to be about an inch wide to fit the M&Ms.
You can see in the picture above a new seal that I made in the baggie with an iron.
After you have made a new seal all you need to do is carefully cut down the middle of the new iron made seal. Then you are ready to do it all over again!
Then all that’s left is to fill it up. I loved using patterns. It made them look so festive! Tie a ribbon around the top and attach a nice gift tag, ornament or use this to jazz up a present that you are giving….no matter what you are doing these are going to be a hit!
